La Salle Barcelona Exchange Returns for Spring 2026

Calling all first year undergraduate students at Escape Studios – we are delighted to announce the return of our Exchange Programme with La Salle, part of the Ramon Llull University in Barcelona, Catalonia.

La Salle offers degrees in Digital Arts and Animation, a perfect fit with our courses at Escape Studios. The Exchange will take place in the Spring of 2026, and we’ll be looking for expressions of interest from our first year undergraduate students in the next few weeks.

Since 2021 a number of Escape students have travelled to La Salle to study, and a similar number (up to five) have come to Escape Studios, studying the Art of Computer Animation, Games and Visual Effects.

The La Salle Exchange Programme is a welcome opportunity for our students to study overseas in one of Europe’s most beautiful cities.

FAQs

1. Do I have to pay for tuition fees at La Salle Barcelona?

No. If successful, participants from Escape Studios will spend a term at La Salle Barcelona as part of their course. Hence, the cost of the programme is covered by your Escape Studios tuition fees cost for the second year, and there is no extra charge to be paid to the university in Barcelona.

2. When does the Programme take place?

The exchange will be taking place in La Salle’s “spring semester,” between early February 2027, until June 2027.

3. Do I have to attend Escape Studios in January before I go to La Salle in February?

No. As you are not taking any Spring modules at Escape, you do not need to attend.

4. What costs are involved in the programme?

To take part in the programme, you will need to cover your accommodation in Barcelona and living expenses. A £250 bursary is available to cover your travel cost to Barcelona.

5. Is there financial assistance provided by Escape Studios?

At present we offer a £250 bursary to cover your travel cost to Barcelona.

All the remaining costs, including accommodation and travel expenses are your responsibility. However, as the exchange programme is part of your usual second year, you should remain fully eligible for SLC maintenance loan. Please check the conditions of your own loan directly with Student Loans Company.

The cost of student visa to Spain is around £150.

6. Will my bursaries from Escape still be valid while studying abroad?

As we offer different bursaries for different circumstances, please contact the Student Services Team to confirm the terms of your financial assistance.

7. Is there any help available with organising the logistics of taking part in the programme?

8. Can I use La Salle Barcelona’s accommodation?

La Salle Barcelona has an agreement with a private accommodation provider, which you would be eligible for: https://resa.es/en/residences/barcelona/campus-salle/rooms-prices/. Residences might, however, get full and obtaining a room with them directly might not be possible. Obtaining accommodation will be your own responsibility.

9. What is the course structure, and will it be delivered in English?

The course will be delivered fully in English. If you wish, you may attend Spanish classes while there, however those do not count towards the course and do not accrue credits. A Spanish class with credits is also available, but space is very limited. Those are free of charge.

The modules available in Term 2 are indicated with 2s in both columns, with the first column indicating second year, and the second indicating the term when the module runs.

10. Do I need a visa to study in Barcelona for the semester, and can I work?

You will need a study visa to study in Barcelona if you are a British passport holder. You can find more details about the process and costs here.

You cannot take paid work in Barcelona while on the student visa.

You will not need a visa if you are an EU/EEA citizen. For non-UK or non-EU/EEAcitizens, please check regulations on your country with the Spanish embassy.

11. What is the average cost of living in Barcelona?

As part of the student visa process, you need to demonstrate that you have 900-1000€ per month to sustain yourself in Spain, however this does not equate the actual cost of living in Barcelona.

The housing prices vary greatly depending on the type of accommodation you choose (whether shared student flat, or private accommodation), but you should expect to pay 500€ to 750€ for a shared flat, and around 750-850€ for studio-type accommodation (like the options provided by La Salle).

Prices will also depend on the area you choose to stay in – areas like Gracia or Les Corts are around 15 minutes away on metro from the campus, but offer slightly cheaper pricing to Sant Gervasi, where La Salle is based. You may also pay less if you decide to commute from farther away – for example, El Poblenou, where the average rent is closer to 400-600€.

Other costs may depend on your lifestyle. A transport card valid for 90 days of unlimited travel costs 44€. You can expect to spend between 200-300€ on groceries. You should also account for other costs, such as entertainment, eating out or emergencies.

Overall, the average monthly cost of living is around 1100-1500€, depending on your accommodation and lifestyle.
