3x Escape Studios shorts in Rookies “VFX Film of the Year” finalists

The Rookie Awards is an annual contest that is open for young creatives in visual effects, animation, games, virtual reality, motion graphics and 3D visualisation. The contest is open to amateur artists with less than 1 year of professional experience in their chosen category.

At Escape Studios we have always encouraged our students to enter some of the work that they create during the courses here and as the contest has gained a lot of popularity over last few years, the number of entrants is massive. This year, there have been 3769 entries, including work from 521 schools and 88 different countries.

Escape students have got the following three films as the finalists in the VFX Film of the Year award:

“The Lost City Of Aztlan” https://www.therookies.co/entries/6674

“Seeker” https://www.therookies.co/entries/7346

“Offcut” https://www.therookies.co/entries/4509

In addition to that, Rassoul Edji (director of “Seeker” above) has been selected as a finalist in the Rookie of the Year VFX category based on his lookdev, lighting and generalist skills (https://www.therookies.co/entries/7529):

Last, but not least, we also have Game Art entries in “Console & PC Finalists“, “Immersive Media Finalists“, “Lightfield Studio Internship Finalists” and “Ninja Theory Studio Internship Finalists“.

Well done to all the students and spread the word to get “people’s choice” votes going!
